Equal Justice for Migrant Children is an initiative spearheaded by the First Rights project of Methoria, dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of migrant and separated children. Built upon the principles enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, this project emphasizes prioritizing children's best interests in all decision-making processes.
The initiative seeks to establish a model of justice specifically tailored for unaccompanied and separated migrant children, addressing the challenges they face within complex administrative and judicial systems in the UK. Recent reports presented in the House of Lords highlight critical obstacles and propose a specialist court to streamline processes, ensuring effective consideration of care, protection, and future development needs.
In addition to legal advocacy, Equal Justice for Migrant Children actively raises awareness about the broader humanitarian issues affecting children in conflict zones, calling for urgent action to safeguard their rights. Through partnerships and public engagement, the project aims to foster a supportive environment for vulnerable children.
