Fish Guy

The Fish Guy is an aquarium design and maintenance business serving West Michigan, led by Matt Smith, who has more than 20 years of experience creating aquatic displays. Founded from a personal passion for aquariums, the business works with homeowners, commercial clients, and building contractors to plan custom installations that suit a space and its practical needs. Projects range from 30-gallon aquariums to 1,000-gallon showpieces, in both freshwater and saltwater environments.

Services include aquarium design and setup, ongoing maintenance, and supplying healthy fish and other aquatic animals. The Fish Guy helps clients choose suitable aquarium types and species, with an emphasis on responsible pet ownership and long-term success. Maintenance is available for systems installed by the business or by the client, helping keep aquariums attractive and fish healthy.

The business also specializes in cultivating and breeding rare species, including exotic freshwater stingrays and uncommon corals. Its spotted stingray breeding colony and coral propagation work support captive-raised animals and aim to reduce pressure on wild populations.
