Fissure Security is an independent security research organization founded by Matt Boksa and based in Dallas, Texas. It focuses on a gap in conventional security tools: they may verify users, networks, devices, or senders without examining what a file actually contains. Fissure builds content-level defenses that inspect files as an AI model would read them, helping organizations identify concealed instructions and other risky content before it reaches an AI system.
Its flagship product, Subtext, reduces text, image, audio, and video files to the text an AI would read, then returns a deterministic block, review, or pass verdict with an explainable reason. The product is self-contained and designed to operate without a cloud connection. Subtext for MCP applies the same inspection approach at the tool boundary, checking file content returned to an AI agent before the model reads it.
Fissure also publishes research, test files, and benchmarks where safe, enabling others to examine its findings and evaluate the technology.
