FITRALIT, the Bucharest Branch for Literary Translation of the Writers’ Union of Romania, is an organization dedicated to literary translators and the exchange of ideas across languages and cultures. It supports the visibility of translation as a creative and intellectual practice through a varied program of events, publications, and educational activities.

Its initiatives include literary translation colloquia and cultural and literary debates, as well as workshops in literary translation and reverse translation in Bucharest and Oradea. FITRALIT also organizes conferences, symposia, and other gatherings, and maintains a library devoted to literary translations. Its online Revista de Traduceri Literare shares essays, interviews, commentary, translated writing, and news concerning translators, writers, and the organization’s activities. The publication covers subjects such as translation rights, poetry, literature, and the arts, alongside reports and commemorative features.

Through these activities, FITRALIT provides a forum for translators, authors, researchers, and readers to discuss literary work and the challenges of translation. Its programs and editorial content encourage engagement with Romanian and world literature.
