About Flame Tree Initiative
Flame Tree Initiative is a brand that partners with African universities to foster socially minded businesses, bringing about regional change. They believe in the power of training, mentoring, and launching development entrepreneurships to tackle development challenges and contribute to the innovative era in Africa. Their mission is to accelerate change by supporting scalable, socially-minded businesses.
They work with local entrepreneurs and address local problems led by local people, promoting self-sufficiency and independence. Through their programs like DELab and DEStudio, they provide training and support to aspiring entrepreneurs in Malawi. Their efforts have led to success stories like Lilly, who now supports youth and women smallholder farmers through her business Angelstone, and Hastings, who has established a microhydro electric generation enterprise.
Trinitas, another participant, runs Tina Pads, which provides reproductive health education and reusable sanitary pads to adolescent girls in Malawi. Flame Tree Initiative is making a significant impact in Africa by fostering social entrepreneurship for African development
