Flat Out Inc. As an independent, community-based organization based in Naarm/Melbourne, our primary goal is to prevent women and trans and gender-diverse people from entering and returning to prison. At Flat Out, we believe in co-creating safer spaces, fostering support, and promoting self-determination for individuals who identify as sistergirls, intersex, transgender, and/or gender diverse women.

We provide comprehensive support and advocacy, addressing the underlying causes of criminalization such as homelessness, drug and alcohol treatment, and more. Our funding is received through government departments and independent sources, enabling us to deliver innovative services and advocate for social change. Through research and community education, we strive to raise awareness about the harmful experiences women face within the criminal justice system.

We work directly with women who have experienced criminalization and/or incarceration, improving their rights and conditions. Our ultimate vision is a society where women, trans, and gender diverse people are not criminalized or imprisoned.
