Florida Center for Nursing

The Florida Center for Nursing (FCN) is a state workforce center established under Florida law to research and address nursing workforce issues. Headquartered at the University of South Florida College of Nursing, FCN focuses on the supply and demand for nurses, including recruitment, retention, and effective use of workforce resources. Its work aims to help ensure Florida residents and visitors have access to a competent and sufficient nursing workforce.

FCN collects, analyzes, and publishes data to inform education, policy, funding, and workforce planning. Its research includes nursing education and workforce reports, licensure analyses, and quarterly NCLEX updates. The center also surveys pre-licensure registered nurse and practical nurse programs, gathering information from invited program directors and coordinators. Beyond research, FCN offers initiatives and resources such as the Frontline Nursing podcast, professional networking for pre-licensure students, future-of-nursing programs, hurricane preparedness materials, webinars, and an educational symposium. It shares news, events, and reports to support nursing professionals, educators, and decision-makers across Florida.
