Flexonderwijs

Flexonderwijs is an independent marketplace connecting schools and school boards with self-employed education professionals in the Netherlands. Active since August 2017, it provides a platform where freelancers manage their own profiles and schools can contact them directly, without relying on a commercial staffing intermediary. Its aim is to support flexible work in education while preserving professional autonomy and involvement.

Freelancers can create profiles, explore opportunities, check their eligibility for independent work, and find information about rates and VOG applications. Schools can browse professional profiles and submit requests for flexible staffing, including cover for absences. Flexonderwijs also offers administrative support, including agreements, timesheet registration and invoicing, allowing schools and professionals to focus on education. Its services are designed to help organize self-employed assignments in line with current rules; schools can also opt for a live accountability model with monthly DBA reports.

The platform reports more than 2,883 active profiles since 2017 and connections with schools across over 450 school boards.
