Fliegenfischerschule Fränkische Schweiz

Fliegenfischerschule Fränkische Schweiz is a professional fly-fishing school led by Michael Sanna, based at the Fly-Fishing Center in Muggendorf, Bavaria. Set beside the Wiesent River, the school introduces anglers to a classic regional fishery known for its brown trout and grayling, supported by good water quality and distinctive scenery of steep rock faces and green meadows.

From March through November, courses are offered daily for beginners and more experienced anglers. Instruction combines the LS “Lerch/Sanna” casting approach, adapted from Charles Ritz’s HS/HL method, with practical guidance in equipment, knots, entomology and a range of casting techniques. The school also provides fly-tying courses, introductory sessions, guiding and access to local fishing experiences. Its services extend beyond the river through fly-fishing videos, an online shop, gift vouchers and information about accommodation in nearby hotels.

For anglers wishing to travel farther afield, the school lists trips and intensive seminars in destinations including Cuba, Slovenia, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Russia’s Far East and Denmark.
