About Flight Plan Database
The Flight Plan Database is a comprehensive platform that was launched in 2008 with the purpose of managing and sharing flight plans for X-Plane. Since its complete rebuild in 2014, the platform has expanded its capabilities, particularly in flight planning. However, it is essential to note that the plans and data listed on this site should by no means be used for real-world aviation or as a substitute for proper flight planning.
The accuracy of routes and waypoints cannot be guaranteed, and even plans based on real routes may be outdated. One of the standout features of the Flight Plan Database is its format flexibility. While it was initially built around the X-Plane flight plan format, the platform is now format independent, offering a plethora of export options to other flight plan formats.
The available export formats include X-Plane, FSX, FS9/FS2004, Infinite Flight, FlightGear, PMDG, Airbus X, X-FMC, Squawkbox, QualityWings, iFly 747, TFDi 717, PDF, CSV, JSON, and Google Earth KML. If there is another format you believe should be supported, you can reach out to the Flight Plan Database team to discuss potential additions. When sorting flight plans by popularity on the platform, the ranking is no longer solely based on total downloads.
Instead, the popularity index takes into account the number of downloads and likes a plan has accumulated over the time it has been available. This adjustment ensures that new plans with a high number of downloads in a short period have the potential to compete with much older plans. The popularity index is calculated using the formula ((number of downloads) + 10 * (number of likes)) / (number of days the plan has existed + 1).
Please note that popularity indexes are not calculated in real time for search optimization purposes. The Flight Plan Database also offers support for developers through its API and provides detailed information about the FMS specification. The website adheres to legal requirements as defined by its terms and privacy policy.
