About FLIPEI
FLIPEI, the Festa Literária Pirata das Editoras Independentes, is a Brazilian literary and cultural event dedicated to independent publishing, free public access, and the democratic circulation of ideas. Founded in 2018 in Paraty, it has expanded its activities to São Paulo and other cities, with editions and events listed for Sorocaba, Carapicuíba, São Carlos, and Mairiporã in 2026. Its collaborative program brings together publishers, authors, booksellers, artists, and audiences for discussions on literature and society, alongside performances, shows, and other cultural activities.
FLIPEI prioritizes diverse perspectives and critical thought, positioning its work as a response to the concentration of power in major publishing markets. The event also supports independent publishers and booksellers through its book fair and affiliated Camarada bookstore, while inviting the public to support its organization. In 2025, FLIPEI reported welcoming more than 50,000 visitors and over 180 exhibitors, including publishers, authors, and booksellers from across Brazil
