The Florida Geriatrics Society (FGS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and advancing health care for older adults in Florida. Established in 1989, it supports professionals involved in caring for older adults through education, research, networking, and greater public awareness of the field. FGS brings members together through its annual symposium and business meeting, which feature educational sessions, opportunities to connect with colleagues, and continuing education credits for eligible attendees. The society also offers membership for physicians, allied health professionals, trainees, and others involved in geriatric care, with annual and lifetime options.

FGS encourages research and learning through its David T. Lowenthal Founder’s Poster Session Award. Members can submit abstracts on geriatric care topics, and selected researchers may be invited to present their work orally at the annual meeting.
