Flying Cross Ranch offers a comprehensive riding lesson program that aims to create well-rounded and confident riders who appreciate and understand the harmony between horse and rider. The program follows a learning levels curriculum, teaching both mounted and unmounted horsemanship skills. Safety is emphasized as the foundation of riding, ensuring riders develop competency and knowledge over time.
Mounted horsemanship focuses on the rider's ability in the saddle, resulting in balanced, educated, and confident riders. Unmounted horsemanship covers the extensive knowledge required to care for and work with horses successfully. The program includes weekly riding lessons and biweekly unmounted classes, providing clear, achievable, and measurable milestones for students.
Flying Cross Ranch welcomes everyone, regardless of age, shape, size, or ability, with a special focus on beginner riders. They offer a free introductory lesson to allow potential riders to meet the horses and experience their comfortable learning environment. Students' progress is carefully tracked using a curriculum checklist, and when they demonstrate all the required skills and knowledge, they receive a certificate of achievement and a colorful ribbon to celebrate their progress.
