The Flying Hillbillies Radio Control Club (FHRCC) is an AMA-chartered recreational aeromodelling club based in Winfield, West Virginia. With open membership, the club brings together people interested in flying and operating radio-controlled models. Its primary focus is fixed-wing aircraft, while members also enjoy other remote-controlled activities, including occasional floatplane flying at Ridenour Lake in Nitro.
FHRCC’s main flying site is on land leased from the American Electric Power Company in Putnam County, near the Kanawha River and about three miles northwest of the John Amos Powerplant. The Winfield field welcomes guests and visitors, offering a covered shelter with tables and seating where members can meet, plan flights, and share their enthusiasm for the hobby. The site also has portable restrooms.
The club supports newcomers through one-on-one instruction from volunteer members, helping beginners learn to operate model aircraft safely and confidently. Visitors can meet club members at the field on fair-weather days when the gate is open, and prospective flyers are welcome to explore the hobby and consider joining.
