Foal Nz

Foal NZ is a New Zealand organisation focused on improving racehorse welfare and performance through early foal education, behavioural research and its farm programme. The team works with foals from the beginning, using clear, low-stress training methods aligned with the principles of the International Society for Equitation Science. Its approach aims to support foals’ wellbeing, safety and future performance both on and off the track.

Foal NZ provides education and practical handling programmes for farms, alongside research into foal behaviour. The organisation works with leading New Zealand farms, including Windsor Park Stud and Cambridge Stud, and has a presence in Argentina, Australia and England. Its methods have been recognised by Dr Andrew McLean of Equitation Science International, who describes the approach as evidence-based and a high standard for foal handling. By establishing positive foundations early, Foal NZ helps give young horses a better opportunity to develop and adapt to their future environments.
