Friends of Belmar Harbor (FOBH) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit educational organization based in Belmar, New Jersey. Its mission is to promote the health and vitality of Shark River Bay and support the people who live, work, and enjoy the area. The organization makes accessible, affordable, and engaging water-based activities available to people of all ages and abilities, with particular attention to youth and families with limited means or opportunities.
FOBH offers youth sailing programs for ages 7–17, including introductory and advanced instruction in Optimist and 420 boats, as well as competitive racing and high-performance clinics. Certified instructors use US Sailing teaching methods, with an emphasis on safety, teamwork, and skill development. Other offerings include adult sailing lessons, adaptive sailing through Sailability, kayaking, ecosystem tours, shoreline cleanups, private lessons, and high school sailing. The organization also provides summer and discovery camps, scholarships, and opportunities to participate in regattas. Located at Belmar Dock on River Road, FOBH serves the community through educational programs and recreational experiences on the water.
