Klokánek is a vital initiative under the Fond ohrožených dětí (FOD), specifically designed to provide immediate assistance to children in distress. Established in 1990, Klokánek offers temporary and emergency shelter for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or other forms of danger. The facilities cater to children from infancy to young adulthood, ensuring that they stay with their siblings regardless of age.

Each child receives personalized care from a dedicated caregiver, who provides comprehensive support including education preparation and health visits, in a nurturing, family-like environment. Klokánek operates 14 centers across the Czech Republic, serving nearly 300 children, with assistance available 24/7. Each center is staffed by professionals, including psychologists and social workers, who offer additional support.

The foundation relies on donations and state contributions, which cover only a portion of operational costs. Klokánek encourages community involvement and support to sustain its crucial mission of safeguarding children in need
