Förderverein Zukunftswald

Förderverein Zukunftswald e. V. is a nonprofit association based in Rüthen, Germany, dedicated to helping restore forests damaged by drought and bark beetle infestations. Founded in 2020, it gives local residents opportunities to take part in practical woodland renewal and environmental education. The association supports the reforestation of municipal land with future-ready tree species, following PEFC standards, and works with forestry experts and regional partners, including schools, kindergartens, and other organizations.

Its activities include coordinating volunteer and family planting days, acquiring and distributing seedlings, organizing information events, and developing projects that introduce children to forests through seed collection, seedling cultivation, and planting. The association also shares information about woodland issues and offers educational experiences, including two self-guided routes in Kallenhardt and Rüthen using the free Biparcours app. Since its establishment, it reports more than 102,500 plants planted across 88 sites, covering approximately 44 hectares. Community members can join, volunteer, or support its work through donations and sponsorships. The association is recognized as a charitable organization.
