Folkemødet er hele Danmarks demokratifestival. Her samles borgere og beslutningstagere i Allinge på Bornholm for at dyrke samtalen og fællesskabet under åben himmel, på skibe, i telte og på havnemolen. Det primære formål med Folkemødet er at styrke det danske demokrati og mindske afstanden mellem borgere og beslutningstagere. I løbet af fire dage skaber mere end 1000 græsrødder, organisationer, foreninger, partier og virksomheder flere end 2000 events med vidt forskellige temaer. På Folkemødets Hovedscene har hvert parti 30 minutter til rådighed til blandt andet at holde deres partiledertale. Folkemødet finder altid sted i uge 24. I 2022 er det den 16.- 19. juni. Bag Folkemødet står Foreningen Folkemødet.

About Folkemødet
Folkemødet is the Democracy Festival of Denmark, held every year on the charming island of Bornholm. This festival serves as a platform for democratic dialogue, bringing together civil society, politicians, businesses, media, universities, and citizens. The purpose is to foster informal meetings and open discussions between decision-makers and everyday people.
With over 2,000 political events organized by 650 different organizations, the Democracy Festival of Denmark has emerged as a significant democratic event in the country. During the four-day festival in June, more than 50,000 citizens, parliamentarians, NGOs, business representatives, and grassroots participants gather to debate and celebrate our society and democracy. The events take place all around the town of Allinge, including boats, open-air stages, tents, and local restaurants.
Best of all, there is no entrance fee to any of the events. In 2023, the Democracy Festival will be held from June 15th to June 17th, featuring an opening speech by the Prime Minister of Denmark and key speeches by political leaders from all parties represented in the Danish Parliament. The festival encompasses a wide range of topics, including energy, climate, health, education, and international politics, with events hosted by various societal stakeholders.
If you are interested in participating in the festival and organizing events, you can apply by contacting the Danish NGO, Foreningen Folkemødet, in November. While the majority of events are conducted in Danish, there is a significant selection of events in English, particularly in the 'Green & Global' thematic area. Additionally, several other organizations at the festival offer English-speaking events.
