Folkopedia

Folkopedia is a wiki and peer-reviewed educational resource dedicated to the folk arts of England and related traditions beyond. It brings together information about traditional songs, tunes, music, dances, folk plays, customs and seasonal events, exploring their origins, meanings and connections with similar practices elsewhere. Rather than covering gigs, festivals or individual performers, Folkopedia focuses on the traditions themselves and aims to help readers discover links and topics they may not have encountered before.

The resource is intended for students, teachers, enthusiasts and anyone interested in folk arts. Visitors can browse its articles without registering, using the page directory or random-page feature to explore. Those with relevant knowledge are also welcome to register and contribute, subject to the site’s peer-review principles and copyright guidance. Senior Category Editors and Section Editors help support accuracy, while contributors and prospective Section Monitors can discuss questions and review material through the wiki’s article and discussion pages.
