Fondation Broccard

The Broccard Foundation – Migros Valais is a charitable foundation established in 1974 by the Migros Valais cooperative in honour of Dr Charles Broccard, the cooperative’s first president. Based in Martigny, the foundation supports young people whose main place of residence is in the canton of Valais as they pursue professional training and education. It typically assists six to ten beneficiaries at a time, selecting applicants based on factors including motivation, financial and family circumstances, educational and professional background, available funding, and the number of applications.

The foundation provides financial scholarships to help students begin or complete their studies when support is essential. Its beneficiaries have pursued a wide range of fields, including early childhood education, engineering, medicine, music, graphic design, information technology, physiotherapy, and business. Scholarships are generally set at 300 Swiss francs per month, with the amount and duration determined by the foundation’s council. Awards for studies lasting more than one year are not automatically renewed.
