Founded in 1981, the Fondation Jean Rodhain honors the legacy of Jean Rodhain, a pivotal figure in 20th-century Christian charitable engagement and the founder of the Secours Catholique. The foundation is committed to reflecting on charity as not only a social practice but also as a divine activity stemming from a rigorous theological perspective. Its mission emphasizes the intersection of theology, social sciences, and practical involvement with marginalized communities, aiming to transform charity into a source of inspiration and creativity that meets societal needs.

To achieve its goals, the Fondation Jean Rodhain organizes multidisciplinary conferences and supports a network of Jean Rodhain chairs at six universities across France. These initiatives facilitate dialogue and intellectual development around themes such as restorative justice, the role of the deacon, and the social dimensions of the Eucharist.
