Fondation Santhum

Fondation Santhum is a Canadian charitable organization founded in 2013 that supports communities in Benin, particularly the village of Zungbo Tossota, more than four hours from Porto-Novo. Working with partners in Benin and Quebec, the foundation runs three annual programs addressing practical needs. Its food security program provides support to widows who have not remarried and have no employment, as well as to a departmental orphanage. Its mobility program supplies bicycles to help children facing hardship continue their education and improve access for people with disabilities. Its menstrual health program helps young women and women access menstrual hygiene products.

The foundation’s major project is the creation of a maternity centre in Zungbo Tossota. The project aims to improve access to medical follow-up and childbirth care, reduce maternal and infant deaths, train future professionals, and create local employment. Fondation Santhum also provides health education and guidance related to maternal and child health.
