Fondazione Barumini is a cultural organization based in Barumini, Sardinia, dedicated to preserving, presenting and interpreting the area’s archaeological and cultural heritage. Its visitor offering brings together several sites and services, with a single ticket providing access to the Su Nuraxi archaeological area, the Casa Zapata museum complex and the Giovanni Lilliu Centre, including a guided visit. Su Nuraxi, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997, is described as Sardinia’s most important nuragic complex.
Casa Zapata is a sixteenth-century noble residence built above the Nuraxi ’e Cresia nuraghe, while the Giovanni Lilliu Centre hosts temporary exhibitions and permanent displays focused on archaeologist Giovanni Lilliu and the excavation of Su Nuraxi. The foundation also operates a laboratory for excavation and restoration, supporting conservation, research and training in cultural heritage. Its educational and academic activities include school workshops and guided learning programmes, as well as a qualifying master’s degree in conservation and restoration.
