Fondazione Sternberg

The Samuel and Barbara Sternberg Cancer Research Foundation ETS is an Italy-based nonprofit organization founded in 2004 by oncologist Dr. Cora N. Sternberg. Its mission is to advance cancer research and improve patient care through clinical and laboratory studies, education, and access to innovative treatments. The foundation focuses on precision medicine, using genomic analysis and DNA and RNA sequencing of tumors and circulating tumor cells to identify molecular drivers that may help guide treatment choices. It aims to connect patients with suitable medicines, including promising drugs that may not yet be commercially available.

The foundation supports research initiatives and scholarships for Italian oncologists, biologists, and other healthcare professionals, and encourages collaboration among specialists and international cancer centers. Its work also seeks to bring precision medicine into Italian hospitals, build awareness among healthcare professionals and patients, and evaluate emerging approaches, including artificial intelligence. The organization shares information about research, clinical trials, and scientific findings, and invites donations, including through Italy’s 5x1000 tax designation, to support oncology research and its programs.
