Family History is a Russian public project dedicated to helping people explore, preserve, and share their family histories. It promotes historical memory, civic education, and constructive dialogue about the past, while encouraging people to connect family stories with the broader history of Russia and its diverse communities.

The project develops educational resources and activities for people interested in genealogy, including the Genealogical Dictation, an annual online family history lesson, and the School of the Family Historian. Its initiatives also include the Family History website, the Family Historian interactive chatbot, publishing projects, and a standard for family history research. Through lectures, workshops, public discussions, and expert events, the project builds practical research skills and supports conversation across generations and communities.

Family History also seeks to strengthen archival and genealogical research, including through archive digitization, and to improve access to information and guidance for people tracing their roots. Its wider goals include fostering social connections, supporting cultural and educational development, and creating a respectful space for discussing historical memory.
