The Federação Ornitológica Nacional Portuguesa (FONP) is Portugal’s national federation for ornithophily, the hobby and practice of keeping and breeding birds. It serves as an information hub for enthusiasts, breeders and affiliated clubs, helping visitors find guidance and stay informed about developments in the bird-keeping community. The federation shares information about national and international events, including exhibitions and Portuguese and world championships, and maintains listings of clubs and upcoming activities.

Its website also provides resources on bird identification rings, relevant legislation, judges and the National Youth Committee (CNJ), alongside federation statutes, internal rules and sporting regulations. News and videos cover federation activities and events, while dedicated sections explain its governance and technical committees. FONP also supports access to specialist knowledge, including information about a published book on the Venezuelan cardinalito and its standard, for which readers are directed to contact the author.

Through these services, the federation connects the Portuguese ornithological community with events, practical information and shared expertise
