FontForge

FontForge is a free, open-source outline font editor developed by a community of type enthusiasts. The project provides software for creating and editing fonts, along with downloads and installation guidance for Windows, macOS, and GNU/Linux. Its website helps users get started with Design With FontForge and offers documentation, tutorials, a Python scripting guide, native references, a glossary, and related materials. Additional project resources include the SFD specification, utilities, and tools such as fontlint, sfddiff, and fontimage.

FontForge also supports users and contributors through a mailing list for questions and a developer list for people interested in helping. Contributions are open to everyone, not only programmers, and the project shares development updates and information about its roadmap and contributors. Users can support FontForge financially through donations. The software and project materials are shared under the project license. Overall, FontForge combines font-editing tools with educational resources and a community-led approach to open-source type design.
