FONTREY is a family-run French foundry based in Commelle-Vernay, near Roanne in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Founded in 1960, the company has passed its expertise through three generations and combines traditional foundry skills with modern production methods. It manufactures custom cast-iron parts, from prototypes to small and medium production runs, with individual pieces weighing from a few grams up to 25 kilograms. Its products use lamellar or spheroidal graphite iron and are made through sand-moulding processes.
FONTREY supports projects from initial design through finished components. Its services include engineering advice and design, tooling creation, coremaking, melting, moulding, shakeout, shot blasting, fettling, machining, assembly, packaging and logistics. An integrated design office helps customers assess feasibility and optimise parts, while in-house machining and finishing enable delivery of components ready for use. The foundry serves customers across France and internationally. FONTREY reports monthly production of about 200 tonnes and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, reflecting its commitments to quality, environmental management and workplace safety.
