About Food First
Food First is a brand that was founded in 1975 by Joseph Collins and Frances Moore Lappé with the aim of combatting the injustices that lead to hunger. They have been dedicated to this mission for over four decades. Food First has made significant contributions to the movement for food justice and food sovereignty.
One of the ways they achieve their goals is through their programs. They offer a Fellows Program, which supports early career thought leaders who are committed to grassroots struggles and advancing the global movement for food sovereignty. They also have a Seed + Grant Program, which provides funding to projects that align with their mission.
In addition to their programs, Food First is known for their publications. They have published over 60 books and hundreds of articles and research reports. Their first book, Food First: Beyond the Myth of Scarcity, set the stage for their ongoing work.
