Founded in 2017 by Juliette le Roux, who holds an MSC in Food Science Cum Laude from the University of Stellenbosch, the brand specializes in the development of customized training material. Initially, the brand collaborated with large food safety training companies, developing training material for their programs. However, in 2020, Food Safety Matters expanded its operations to provide training material directly to the food industry, making it accessible and cost-effective. Juliette's expertise in Microbiology and Food Safety is highly recognized, as she also lectures part-time at the Nelson Mandela University.

Additionally, she plays an active role in fostering collaboration between the food industry, academia, and the environmental health department as a founding member and secretary of FSQAG (the Food Safety and Quality Advisory Group).
