About Food Security Portal
The Food Security Portal (FSP) is a vital resource for addressing global concerns about food security and nutrition. Volatile food prices, climate change-driven shocks, conflict, economic downturns, and high population growth are serious issues affecting many parts of the world. Supported by the European Commission and facilitated by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the FSP offers up-to-date data and information about dynamic developments in the world food system.
This comprehensive portal provides key data to monitor food security situations and prices, along with tools for policy analysis and capacity development. Its mission is to equip policymakers and stakeholders with the information they need to make appropriate and timely responses to food insecurity. The FSP started in 2010 as a response to lessons learned from the 2007-2008 world food crisis, focusing on addressing the causes and mitigating the effects of high and volatile food prices.
Over time, it has expanded its suite of tools to support policymakers in responding to food crises and increasing resilience among vulnerable populations
