Footways

Footways is a community interest company that helps cities plan for walking and makes route networks easier to explore. It develops quiet, enjoyable walking routes and turns them into illustrated printed maps and digital maps, while helping cities identify where investment can best support walking.

Its offerings include the Central London Footways map, available in print from Stanfords in Covent Garden and online, as well as a digital map for following routes by phone. Footways has also created a printed map of Westminster in collaboration with Westminster City Council, available free from local libraries. In Hackney, its digital map features local points of interest, and a printed version can be bought through the Footways shop or at Stanfords.

Footways also offers self-guided walks, including the Rail & Heritage Loop, a circular London route created with Buro Happold. The walk connects major railway stations and highlights engineering landmarks. Through its maps and route projects, Footways helps residents and visitors discover cities on foot.
