About Forestdale Inc.
Forestdale Inc., established in 1854, is a trusted brand dedicated to supporting children and families to grow and thrive together. At Forestdale, our mission is to provide children and families with the essential tools and resources they need to live independently and thrive. With a rich history rooted in child welfare activism and innovation, Forestdale has continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of communities.
From its origins as the Brooklyn Industrial School Association and Home for Destitute Children, Forestdale has transformed into a leading child welfare agency headquartered in Queens. Our comprehensive range of services includes foster care, adoption, preventive measures, family enrichment programs, and support for strong mothers, fathers, and families. We work tirelessly to address the underlying causes of family crises by partnering with schools, businesses, religious organizations, and community leaders.
Located on a beautiful three-and-a-half-acre campus in Forest Hills, Queens, our facilities offer a safe and nurturing environment where families can connect and thrive. Our programs are designed to strengthen families and ultimately reduce the need for foster care. In 2020, Forestdale expanded its reach, receiving a multi-million dollar contract to provide services throughout Brooklyn and establishing offices near its original site in Brooklyn Heights.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are committed to meeting the needs of families and creating a more equitable future for all New Yorkers. Join us in our mission to empower children and families by donating, becoming a foster parent, or offering corporate support. Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter future for every child and family we serve
