Företagens historia

Företagens historia i Uppsala län is a non-profit association dedicated to preserving and making use of the region’s business history. It helps companies and organisations safeguard historical source material and supports researchers seeking to explore it. The association’s work reflects the idea that understanding the past can help businesses build strong brands.

With around 70 members, the association offers access to archive space, consultancy services and training at competitive prices. It also shares local business history through educational resources, articles and public activities. In collaboration with the Centre for Business History, it has developed material about Uppsala’s commercial past for Företagskällan, a website about the history of business.

Visitors can also explore the Uppsala-rundan, a free, smartphone-guided city walk tracing the footsteps of local entrepreneurs. The route combines business history, stories and innovations with images and podcast segments, and is suitable for companies, residents, tourists and school groups. Through its archive services and public learning initiatives, the association connects organisations and communities with the people and enterprises that have shaped Uppsala County.
