Formation is a welcoming, contemplative community for people who identify as religiously unaffiliated and want to explore life’s big questions beyond established religious traditions. Rather than offering fixed answers or requiring particular beliefs, Formation invites people to reflect, listen to their inner voice, and discover a deeper sense of purpose. Its approach combines individual contemplation with community and service, encouraging personal growth that also responds to the needs of others.

People can take part through open dinners featuring food, music, meditation, and conversation around monthly themes. Formation Groups bring together small, peer-led groups that meet weekly for a year, creating space for honest sharing and mutual growth. Home Groups and Crews offer smaller gatherings to connect, talk about life, and support one another. Formation also organizes retreats and workshops on topics such as mindfulness, life transitions, mortality, self-compassion, creativity, and values-led living, typically on a sliding scale or donation basis. Across its activities, Formation emphasizes inclusion, authentic relationships, generosity, and practices that help people live more fully.
