About Formule ETS Montréal
Formule ETS is a student engineering team and scientific club based at École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in Montreal. Since 1988, students from a range of engineering disciplines have collaborated to design and build racing cars, aiming to compete successfully in Formula SAE and Formula Student events. These international competitions bring together more than 600 universities from 46 countries and include track events as well as presentations to judges.
Formule ETS has competed in Canada, the United States and Europe, and its prototypes are recognized for their technical complexity and forward-looking design. The team moved to electric vehicles in 2020 and began focusing on autonomous driving in 2023, continually advancing its engineering work. Its third electric car, MANIC-23, weighs 186 kilograms and produces 80 kW, or 108 horsepower, through four electric in-wheel motors.
The vehicle features custom suspension and a carbon-fiber chassis, accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 2. 5 seconds and generates up to 2. 5G of lateral acceleration.
