Forstzentrums

The Center of Forestry, Forest and Wood Weihenstephan is a collaborative institution focused on forestry research, education and advisory services. It brings together the forestry and resource management department of the Technical University of Munich, the Faculty of Forestry at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, and the Bavarian State Institute of Forestry. Across its three partners, the center connects around 600 staff members, 40 professorships, 2,000 students and nine degree programs.

The center supports research and knowledge exchange on forests, wildlife, wood and natural resources. Its work includes projects such as A-DUR and research into floodplain forests, climate-resilient woodland, forest management and environmental change. It shares findings through scientific publications, events, seminars, field excursions and practical teaching, helping link academic research with forestry practice. The center also offers information and engagement opportunities through its event calendar, newsletter and supporters’ association. Its activities include recognizing contributions to forestry through the Georg-Dätzel Prize and medal, and presenting forest-related topics through initiatives such as the “DenkMal im Wald” traveling exhibition.
