At Fortis Belize, we are dedicated to providing clean, reliable, and environmentally friendly energy through hydroelectric generation. As the sole owner and operator of the Mollejon, Chalillo, and Vaca hydroelectric facilities, we generate 100% renewable energy on the Macal River. Our hydroelectric power is delivered to Belize Electricity Limited (BEL), contributing up to 40% of renewable energy to the national electric grid.

As a subsidiary of Fortis Inc., a leader in the North American regulated electric and gas utility industry, we have a strong foundation in the industry. First incorporated as Belize Electric Company Limited (BECOL) in 1991, we have grown and evolved over the years to become Fortis Belize Limited (FBL) in September 2022.

Operating under agreements with the Government of Belize, we have long-term commitments to provide electricity to BEL. Our Franchise Agreement, Power Purchase Agreement, and Master Agreement ensure a stable and sustainable energy supply for Belize for the next 50 years.
