Operated under the Paul Singer e. V., it brings together activities at and around the cemetery, presenting the site as a place to remember democratic struggles and explore democracy today. The cemetery was established for the 255 people killed in Berlin’s March Revolution of 1848, and later became the burial place for victims of the 1918–19 revolution.
Its programs connect this history with themes including freedom, equality, social justice, participation and democratic rights. forum 1848 offers exhibitions, public events, commemorations, guided tours, workshops and educational resources, alongside publications about the revolutions, their participants and the history of the site. Its activities invite educators and the wider public to engage with historical perspectives and contemporary questions.
