About Fotografia Europea
Fotografia Europea is an international cultural festival dedicated to contemporary photography, founded in 2006 and promoted by Fondazione Palazzo Magnani and the City of Reggio Emilia. The festival uses photography as a tool to reflect on the complexities of modern times, inspired by the teachings of renowned photographer Luigi Ghirri, whose archive is housed in the city. The festival features a core of exhibitions, including new productions dedicated to a specific theme identified annually by a scientific committee.
In addition to exhibitions, a diverse program of events, conferences, workshops, readings, and performances enrich the festival experience. The OFF circuit offers independent exhibitions and events throughout the city. Fotografia Europea is a permanent project, boasting a collection of over 1,000 works accessible online and housed at the Fototeca della Biblioteca Panizzi.
