Fotokids - The Original! Breaking the cycle of poverty through visual arts and technology, Fotokids has been serving as a non-profit organization for over 25 years. Originally called "Out of the Dump," the organization provides services to more than 215 children aged nine to 23 in six communities in Guatemala and the Central Valley of California. Founded by award-winning photographer Nancy McGirr in 1991, Fotokids started with a group of six children living and working in Guatemala City's garbage dump.

Since then, Fotokids has expanded its program to include communities outside the city and has reached over a thousand children and 500 families living in poverty. The organization's work has been exhibited in 14 countries and featured in lectures at prestigious universities. Through intensive, long-term relationships with mentors, children in the Fotokids program gain skills in photography, creative writing, computers, and more, providing them with tools for self-expression, exploration, and discovery.
