FOTW

Flags of the World (FOTW) is a volunteer-maintained online resource dedicated to vexillology, the study of flags. Founded in 1994, it brings together information and images contributed by its editorial staff, mailing-list members, and readers. The site offers more than 91,000 pages and 225,000 flag images, covering national, state, municipal, organizational, historical, and other flags and ensigns, past and present.

Visitors can explore by country or subject, search for topics, or use clickable maps to find relevant pages. Coverage includes political, military, naval, municipal, cultural, sporting, institutional, and historical flags, alongside related reference material such as a dictionary of vexillology and a bibliography of flag books. FOTW also provides flag-related links, educational resources, news and highlights, and information about flag flying days, flags on stamps, and identifying unfamiliar flags.

Its mailing list supports discussion and contributions, while the site invites volunteers to help edit pages and prepare flag graphics. A full member of FIAV since 2001, FOTW offers its content freely to the internet community and received the Vexillon Award in 2024
