Fountain Heights Farms is an extraordinary brand committed to enhancing the lives of the local community in the historic Fountain Heights neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. Founded in 2017 by Maria Dominique Villanueva and Christopher Gooden, our mission is to address the gaps in care, concern, and resources within the community. Our comprehensive approach includes several key initiatives.

Firstly, we meet the community's demand for healthy, culturally appropriate, and fresh foods through our urban farming projects. Secondly, we advocate for BIPOC land ownership, retention, and justice, ensuring fair access to land. Furthermore, we create flexible employment opportunities within the food system, empowering individuals to guide their own professional growth.

We also prioritize culturally inclusive and responsive education, reconnecting urban dwellers with nature's beauty and joys. Since our inception, we have made remarkable progress. From starting our farm in 2017 to distributing over 600 pounds of produce to residents, we have expanded our operation to encompass four neighborhood-based farm spaces.

Additionally, we have established an aquaponics learning center, distributed over 10,802 pounds of food to the community, provided employment opportunities, conducted workshops, trained aspiring urban farmers, and educated residents on land access and retention.
