First Pres is a Christ-centered congregation at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Placid. Affiliated with the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, First Pres upholds the fundamental truths of the Christian faith as revealed in the Bible. With a strong belief in God as the sovereign Creator and Ruler of the universe, First Pres recognizes Jesus Christ as the Son of God, the Savior, and Lord of mankind.

The Holy Spirit plays a vital role as the initiator and enabler of the Christian life. First Pres also regards the Bible as the infallible Word of God, the perfect guide for faith and life. Salvation is emphasized as a divine gift of grace, freely given through faith, and not earned through human merit.

The Ten Commandments encapsulate our responsibilities to God and one another. To foster spiritual growth, Family Worship and Tithing are encouraged, while church governance follows the Presbyterian system. Leadership is vested in Elders and Deacons, chosen through a democratic process.

First Pres practices the Sacrament of Baptism for believers and their children. Membership is open to those who profess or reaffirm faith in Jesus Christ or transfer from another Christian Church. Additionally, part-time residents who are members in good standing of another Christian Church are welcomed as Associate Members.

The mission of First Pres is to serve the Lord Jesus Christ by enabling His people to display His love through Biblical instruction, vibrant worship, intimate fellowship, and dedicated service. The aim is to shape lives into living testimonies of God's grace and love, locally, nationally, and globally
