The Forgotten People Fund (FPF) is a registered charity in Israel dedicated to supporting the Ethiopian community, particularly in Netanya, where the challenges of integration and adaptation are profound. Established in 1998 by Anne and David Silverman, along with Rabbi Yosef and Aida Miller, FPF emerged in response to critical needs within this community, many of whom live in poverty and face significant social issues, including family breakdown and educational disparities.
The organization focuses on empowering Ethiopian Jews through education and economic independence, recognizing that academic advancement is vital for successful integration into Israeli society. Notably, FPF provides scholarships for students pursuing higher education, exemplified by Itamar, who is simultaneously earning his B.S. and M.S. in computer science at the prestigious Technion. Through its rapid response initiatives and special projects, the Forgotten People Fund is committed to ensuring that the aspirations and dreams of the Ethiopian community are realized, transforming lives and breaking the cycle of poverty.
