The Federação Portuguesa de Kickboxing e Muaythai is Portugal’s national federation for kickboxing and Muay Thai. Kickboxing began in Portugal in 1975 under the name Full-Contact, with national and international competitions following from 1977. Today, the federation supports the sport across the country, coordinating regional qualifying competitions, national championships, athlete development and selection for national teams. Its activities encompass ring and tatami disciplines, with opportunities for clubs, athletes, coaches and referees to take part in organised competition.

The federation manages the calendar of events and publishes news, competition results, selection-stage information and participation criteria. It also organises major tournaments, including the national kickboxing championships, and stages training and selection sessions for athletes seeking places on Portugal’s kickboxing and Muay Thai national teams. Regional events bring together clubs from across mainland Portugal and the islands, while international competitions connect Portuguese athletes with competitors from abroad. Through its competitions and development programmes, the federation promotes participation in combat sports and provides a structured framework for their practice and growth in Portugal.
