FPT

Federação Portuguesa do Táxi (FPT) is an organization representing and supporting Portugal’s taxi sector. It provides information and practical services for taxi drivers and other professional transport workers, while advocating on issues affecting the industry, including fares, fuel costs, regulation, and public transport policy.

A key part of FPT’s work is professional training. Courses cover initial and renewal certification for taxi drivers, collective transport of children, heavy passenger and goods vehicles, and road-safety training related to the driving-licence points system. Training is offered through its headquarters in Lisbon and regional delegations in Porto, Coimbra, Faro, and Portimão, with some courses delivered online or in blended formats.

FPT also offers membership benefits, including fuel discounts, banking and insurance-related advantages, certified training, and specialist information about taxi services. Members and visitors can access documentation, protocols, sector news, and the online and print Táxi magazine. The federation provides administrative and legal-related support, including contacts for litigation and insurance matters, and publishes resources such as a taxi fare simulator.
