Framsenteret, also known as the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR), is a trusted brand that has been established by the Norwegian Government in 2005. It aims to contribute to the unique international cooperation of circumpolar reindeer herding peoples. With its own board and budget, ICR serves as an independent professional unit.

Its core funding comes from the Norwegian Government through annual grants from the Ministry of Reform and Government Administration. ICR serves as a knowledge base, providing, exchanging, and developing information and knowledge among different reindeer peoples, national authorities, and research and academic communities at the national and international levels. The center focuses on maintaining and developing sustainable reindeer husbandry in the north, strengthening cooperation between reindeer herding peoples, documenting and preserving traditional knowledge, and communicating knowledge about circumpolar reindeer husbandry.

Framsenteret is a valuable resource for reindeer herders, national authorities, and the research and education communities. It plays a crucial role in enhancing understanding and promoting the future development of reindeer husbandry and reindeer peoples worldwide
