About FACET- Franco-Australian Indo-Pacific Centre for Energy Transition
The Franco-Australian Indo-Pacific Centre for Energy Transition (FACET) is a Melbourne-based partnership connecting universities, research institutions and industry to advance sustainable energy solutions. Supported by the French and Australian ministries for foreign affairs, it works with territories and countries across the Indo-Pacific to develop collaborative responses to climate change and support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
FACET brings partners together through four pillars: thought leadership, innovation, research, and education. Its activities include an annual symposium, technical workshops, trade and academic delegations, industry challenge programs, startup support, collaborative research, joint PhD and postdoctoral opportunities, and skills development. The centre also offers grants and working groups to encourage cooperation.
FACET’s strategic focus spans complex energy systems and smart grids, energy storage and hydrogen, future fuels, solar and wind power, industry decarbonisation, critical minerals, and next-generation batteries. By combining research with industry engagement, education and training, FACET aims to help develop low-carbon energy production, more sustainable supply chains, and the capabilities needed for the energy transition.
